As an independent studio working with a focused budget, we explored several approaches for building Batikan’s environments. Our goal was to balance authenticity, performance, and production efficiency — so we turned to the Unreal Marketplace to source high‑quality, period‑appropriate asset packs that we could kitbash into cohesive locations.

To make these assets work seamlessly together, Shivam and Panku handle the standardisation and optimisation pipeline. They clean up topology, unify texel density, fix LODs, and ensure all models follow our Unreal‑ready naming conventions and material setups. This lets us merge assets from different creators into a single, consistent visual language.

The Marketplace already offers a strong selection of environment packs suitable for our time period. The only custom assets we produce from scratch are those uniquely Filipino — architecture, cultural props, tools, weapons, and armors from ancient Philippine societies. We currently have several 3D artists dedicated to these culturally specific elements, led by Boxel Studio and Theekshana.

We’ve got in touch with several studios to work with us and provide us a special deal for the environment sets we plan to use. Laya’s tropical‑themed environments are especially valuable for capturing the lush, humid landscapes of the archipelago.

For materials, we rely heavily on Poliigon for high‑quality PBR textures and surface maps. Their library helps us maintain realism and consistency across foliage, terrain, wood, stone, and structural elements.
Environment assembly and world‑building are done collaboratively with Beveky Studio, a France‑based team with strong experience in large‑scale environment production. Their expertise helps us refine composition, lighting, and biome identity across the game world.

More environment updates coming soon — we’re excited to show how all these pieces come together to build the world of Batikan.
We definitely need your help on this front guys!
