Creatures and Monsters!

The redesigned versions of your favourite mythological creatures are now being handled by AJ Nobleza — an exceptional artist who blends surreal imagination with grounded, gritty realism.

What makes AJ’s work stand out is how plausible his creatures feel. His painterly realism gives each design anatomical weight, cultural grounding, and even a hint of scientific believability. Every monster looks like it could genuinely exist in the wild — and that’s exactly the tone we want for Batikan.

These creatures are a huge part of Philippine culture. We’ve scared ourselves with these gnarly beings for generations, and AJ captures that fascination perfectly. He’s currently developing a full compendium of Philippine mythological creatures, and Dalluyon Studio officially co‑owns the copyrights for the designs featured in the game.

Below are some of the current in‑game creature designs.

Creature Factions in Batikan

Bodada the Elder Kapre belongs to the Kapre race, one of the major groups in our world. All creatures fall under two primary categories:

1. The Anitos

Guardians of nature — neutral, territorial, and non‑violent unless provoked. They are sanctioned by the Diwatas to maintain balance, protect forests, and uphold the natural order. Their behavior is defensive rather than aggressive, and their designs reflect age, wisdom, and environmental adaptation.

2. The Aswangs

Born from darkness, violence, and the corrupted hatred of mankind. These malevolent entities originate from the depths of the earth and embody predatory, parasitic, and supernatural traits. They operate under a hierarchy, often answering to more powerful variants such as the Gabunan.
